Based on true events, the finest hours depicts the spectacular rescue of crews of two oil tankers badly damaged in the storm.
On February 18, 1952, Fort Mercer by a strong winter storm off the coast of New England, the oil tanker SS unit in distress. But even as the rescue crews in Chatham, Massachusetts are preparing their use, they discover another victim on the radar: Pendleton, also an oil tanker, the SS is also in dire need.
And so the lifeboat CG 36500 with his team around helmsman Bernard C. Webber on a risky mission goes eventually, to recover the crew of the SS Pendleton of storm-whipped Cold Lake. They endure on the rear, during wind and water constantly to nerves and life pulls.
